Instructional writing

We are learning to do instructional writing. We made spinach dip with some spinach from our garden.

I liked writing instructions. It was fun making the dip.

I am learning to use capital letters and full stops in the right place. It is tricky because I find it hard to know when to end a sentence. I forgot with the words the end to start the word the with a capital letter. I need to remember not to start a sentence with the word and.

I am learning about 2D and 3D shapes. I can find out how many sides it has. Mine is a pentagon. Miss Ladley had to help me because I forgot what a pentagon is.

I found this easy apart from looking because I forgot ing was not a full word. Look is a root word.

I am learning to write more than one idea. I like lightning writing. I write as much as I can in 10 minutes. I used a picture to give me ideas. I find it tricky to write more than one idea. I need to use word files to spell words correctly.

My reflection: I am learning to use words like and, but and because to make compound sentences. I know that they join to words together. But I find it very tricky to remember not to put full stops before and after the words. I need to work on where they go.

Reflection: I am learning the numbers before and after to 20. I find 7s hard. 17 is hard. My next step is to work on subtraction from 20.
